Anyone can mint their own NFT for free by calling contract method mint. You only pay gas and your NFT TokenId is set to the gas price in gwei used when minting, so low numbers are cheap while higher number more expensive.
These NFTs are onchain, and linked to your TokenId you'll find the final digital content your NFT represent.
