Situated deep in the most remote area of Utah, a 9 mile hike through a muddy wash and some desert off-road 4x4 driving is the most beautiful texture heaven of 160 million year old Entrada sandstone.
I’d been dreaming of making the long trek to this area for years, after seeing it in photos and guidebooks. On a chilly winter day in January, the timing was right- the crescent moon was in the sky, and the weather was perfect.
As I made the hike to this location, I stood in complete awe and disbelief; “this place is real?” I thought to myself. It was much bigger and beautiful in person, truly felt like I was teleported to a new planet.
I ventured around the place, and was captivated by the sandstone textures. I shot this image on my Sony A7riii converted to full spectrum infrared. This spectrum of color is what we don’t see with the human eye; it’s given me constant discovery of wild new tones and hues.
