Title: Castle Up The Hill

Artist: Manfredteh

Edition: 1/1

Story:

Castle up the hill is a piece that has some interesting story behind it. This is where the drone fell out of the sky for the first time ever while I was creating art with it. It was a spontaneous trip to a place called Castle Hill, which was 40 minutes drive from my home. When I came back from my gym session, I saw the sky was clear and I decided to take a trip there as it was a place I have wanted to shoot for a while.

So, my partner and I drove there. Upon arriving, the wind on top of the hill was quite gusty, but we decided to go ahead with the shoot anyway. As I got everything prepared, ready to go, sent the drone up, the wind got even stronger. But, to my surprise, the drone handled the wind very well even with the extra weights on top of it.

I have managed to performed couple of manoeuvre and get a few shots, however the wind must have been so strong that it somehow managed to pushed one of the LED lights mount holder out of place. It was at that moment, the propeller hit the out of place mount holder, one of the propeller got damaged and the drone fell out of the sky.

My heart just sunk, I ran over to retrieve the drone. Thankfully, it was in the middle of the night and no one was around, so no one was hurt. The drone was surprisingly fine, however the mount for the LED lights and propellers were damaged, so I couldn't continue to shoot. I was however glad that I still managed to come away with some photos and this was one of the piece here.

Glow by Manfred Teh collection image

Glow is a collection that are consisted of 16 1/1 light painting with a drone at night over the last 3 years of my photography journey. Another 16 pieces will be added once the collection has sold out.

Throughout my photography journey, light has been one of many theme that has inspired me. Whether it's day or night time photography, both offers different looks and feelings from the same location. Over the years, I have developed a fondness for night photography, we can dictates how a scene would look like and the feelings that it can evoke by either using just natural light source or artificial light source to capture a scene and create a story that the we want to portray.

Created in my signature style, "Glow" focuses on exploring how both natural light source and artificial light source can both co-exists in natural outdoor environments (with or without man-made structure) and combined together to create something that is out of this world and that us, human don't normally see.
