Story:
This mysterious watch tower is another one that can be found nearby to the Needle's Eye in the deep woodlands near Rotherham, South Yorkshire. There are a few mysterious towers, monuments and structures like these around the South Yorkshire.
One night, when the sky was clear, I decided to take a 35 minutes drive to this mysterious tower to create some art. The hike here wasn't too bad, as I was already familiar with the place during day time walks here, however it was a cold night. Therefore, I had to be quick on the shoot before I froze. During the shoot there were some challenges, one being the trees around the tower, making it tricky for the drone to manoeuvre safely, therefore I didn't lower the drone too far down in case it crashes into the trees or tower.
For this shot, I wanted the tower to be small and at the same time be the main subject of the shot, although in reality the tower is huge. So, I set the camera far enough to create a sense of compression and depth. After some experiments on a few different angles, I settled down to this angle here, then I went ahead and send the drone out to create some light painting to bring the shot to life.

Glow is a collection that are consisted of 16 1/1 light painting with a drone at night over the last 3 years of my photography journey. Another 16 pieces will be added once the collection has sold out.
Throughout my photography journey, light has been one of many theme that has inspired me. Whether it's day or night time photography, both offers different looks and feelings from the same location. Over the years, I have developed a fondness for night photography, we can dictates how a scene would look like and the feelings that it can evoke by either using just natural light source or artificial light source to capture a scene and create a story that the we want to portray.
Created in my signature style, "Glow" focuses on exploring how both natural light source and artificial light source can both co-exists in natural outdoor environments (with or without man-made structure) and combined together to create something that is out of this world and that us, human don't normally see.
