Brigitte Bardot (1934- ) is considered one of the greatest sex symbols historically, though her entertainment career was relatively brief. Her image came to represent erotic emancipation and rebellious liberation; she was part of ushering in the new attitude of a generation. Zam’s portrait work often features celebrated cultural figures; more recently whole images are constructed from thousands of tiny individual digital pieces.
This portrait expands on his recent ‘Modern Girls, Modern Boys’ series which takes inspiration from happenstance collage such as the accumulation of street bill-posting. The subject, overlaid with clusters of hundreds of millefiori-like fragments from popular culture remains discernible; the random detritus creates a mysterious and slightly disturbing effect.

This is a limited edition hot pink colourway; the original sold-out aqua colourway edition of 20/20 was part of ‘The Vault’ exhibition for NFT Fest Australia 2022, curated and staged by OSHI at Alex Theatre. St Kilda and OSHI Gallery Collingwood, Melbourne in conjunction with Nifty Gateway.
