Since the idea of the Metaverse came to be, people have always tried to find ways to upload their consciousness to the neural networks. When it eventually became a possibility, there was a big question left - what to do with the bodies that remain after the soul has entered the cybersphere?
REMNANTS are the by-product of this process. They are bodies that still have their active autonomic functions but are separated from the consciousness. They are being kept alive by life support for the original owner, or anyone else in need, to reclaim. Until that happens the energy of the body is being used as a generator for the good of the cult. As the ancient tribes once used all the parts of the animal from their hunt - the same goes for the Technocult and REMNANTS. Nothing goes to waste.
"These urns hold a mix of memories and experiences, from the past owners to their interactions with other members. It would be a shame to discard them like the empty shells they in fact are. They are REMNANTS and we shall treat them with the respect that their former owners deserve"
