I returned many times to this remote and hard-to-reach region of Lake Skadar located on Montenegro’s southern border with Albania. Four grueling trips over 6 weeks under all conditions until I finally managed to do this incredible natural formation justice with my imagery.

I am personally very attached to the Balkans and have spent a large portion of my career exploring and telling the stories of the people from this incredibly diverse corner of Europe. In 2020 I was lucky enough to spend 8 weeks shooting throughout the region and it was during this trip that I really got under the skin of Montenegro and discovered the numerous hidden gems of the country’s interior such as Lake Skadar where I would more often than not be the only person for miles.
