Bright vessels of life spreading in the darkness…

The natural world is slowly retreating in front of mankind's civilization, though life always finds its way. No matter where, no matter how. Even in the most difficult environments.

This enigmatic landscape was captured in the Icelandic Highlands, from a Cessna plane.

When I saw these gigantic volcanic reliefs covered with vibrant green vegetation lines, I immediately asked the pilot to fly over it. I wanted to capture it in an « intimate » way, making it hard to understand the scale, leaving only the contrast between life and darkness.

Captured on September 2021.

This image has been awarded by the California Academy of Sciences Museum and will be exhibited there in fall 2022, as part of the BigPicture Exhibition.
