.rumahGadang (2022) is a series of photographs and digital effects of abandoned heritage buildings taken from my hometown village which is located in Batang Buo, Indonesia. A symbol of unity, space and gathering among families of Minangkabau ethnic. The house has the primary purpose of the utility of space as a communal centre and gathering for the community.
This interpretation is looking in both directions exploring symbols as an identity and function within physical and digital space. Within this series, the images are deforming into digital synesthesia and distortion effect, exploring the possibility of digital interpretation and finding a new way to maximize the new and old space functions.
The series also brings the heritage interpretation into Web3 and digital assets along with the Ethereum token that is printed together into each series as an identity of the artist then finish with hand ‘semamori’ stitching meaning a connection also as symbol protection of each object.
