The area around the pier was tranquil and peaceful. As I stood alone, taking in every inch of my surroundings, I felt the calmness of the moment. It was midsummer of 2017; I was admiring what life was like at that moment.

Waves crashed against the shoreline and the sounds of nature could be heard and felt – but for once, all these noises didn’t seem so distracting or even loud anymore.

I took out my camera, eager to capture this beautiful scene before it passed me by. With each click of my shutter I felt myself being pulled further into the depths of mother nature’s beauty; I felt connected to something larger than myself, as if I was one with her rhythm and flow.

I understood why the ocean does what it does as I kept taking more photos. Its currents form life around us in ways we may never understand until we take time to witness them ourselves. It was moments such as this one under the pier where no human soul existed except mine at that very moment in time…
