Gasherbrum II also known as K4 is the 13th highest mountain in the world, with an elevation of 8,035 meters (26,362 feet). It is located in the Karakoram range on the border between Pakistan and China. Gasherbrum II was first climbed on July 7, 1956, by an Austrian team led by Fritz Moravec, via the Southwest Ridge. The mountain is known for its steep, icy slopes and challenging climbing conditions, and is considered one of the most difficult of the 8,000-meter peaks to climb. Despite its high elevation, Gasherbrum II is a popular destination for climbers and mountaineers, attracting expeditions from around the world each year.
