Kerid is a volcanic crater located along the Golden Circle scenic route in south Iceland. Rather than formed through explosion, it is believed the crater formed by a magma eruption followed by a collapse into the vacated magma chamber. The Golden Circle driving route is an excellent way to efficiently see some of Iceland's most striking natural features while still being close to its more populated areas.
