Lake Naivasha features a wide array of wildlife just two hours Northwest of Nairobi. We took a boat cruise around the area, spotting scores of waterfowl and multiple hippo colonies lounging in the midday sun. In 2020, flooding caused the lake to grow from 54 square miles to 76 square miles, devastating both local plant life and human settlements, industries and residences alike. The water has yet to completely recede as locals continue to adjust to the new reality.
