The two big beers of Kenya - or Nairobi at any rate - are White Cap and Tusker. Tusker is celebrating its centennial as of 2022, and would be considered the equivalent of Budweiser in Kenya. We happened to meet a marketing strategist for Tusker and he told us they intended to flip the direction the elephant is facing on all packaging for the next 100 years, to ‘look forward’. White Cap depicts the peak of Mount Kenya, and has a flavor profile similar to Sapporo as pointed out by our travel companion Matt Humphrey. In comparison to Tusker, it is considered the local “hipster beer.”
