The beautiful Bougainvillea is the national flower of Grenada. It's not the flowers that make this plant so colorful — it's the leaf-like bracts that sprout brilliant blossoms in shades of red, magenta, purple and white. The plant blossoms all year round and is found throughout the Americas. Grenada chose it as the national flower shortly after independence in 1974.
