Receipt of Hash History: “Morons,” a now tokenized artwork by the legendary street artist Banksy, has sold for over $394,000 on the Open Sea NFT marketplace. The artwork was burned live on March 03, 2021 by an unnamed group of cryptocurrency enthusiasts and was sold on March 07, 2021 for 228.69 Ether, which was priced at $1,726.33 / ETH. Injective Protocol is reportedly the firm behind the buy. The group that burned the Banksy piece claimed that “as long as the physical piece exists, the value of that piece will remain with the physical.”

This moment was historic in the Ethereum timeline of Smart Contracts and Blockchain Technology due to the early nature of NFT's and its introduction to the world as a viable form of selling, buying, and storing of Digital Art. It also highlights the importance of the contract when developing and forming NFT's, and allowing the COA to be stored on IPFS (Interplanetary File System) indicated a robust approach to those not familiar with the protocol at that time. Further allowing the piece to live forever and still have rightful proof of ownership if the internet was to go down and come back on. Furthermore, still bringing attention to the brand new element of Digital Scarcity, and secured safety to whom ever decided to own and hold it. In addition, pushing the envelope on what can be done with NFT's early in it's infancy stage on weather a digital good can be rare.
