In creating this artwork, I was most influenced by the discussion in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success of the heart-based decisions of an individual as part of a natural flow towards a goal that is beneficial to oneself and the wider society. The choice of “LOGIK” as my art name is based on decision-making, and my art practice from the start has been predicated on uplifting and speaking the truth of my culture. To achieve the knowledge necessary to bring success to myself and my community, I had to maintain my personal long-term vision in the face of many naysayers who wanted me to fit into the standard mold. Those who lack an open mind and are stuck in their ways – whether in corporate America or local communities – maintain the status quo and stifle the flow of progress. The trope of an angel and a devil on one’s shoulders refers to how our choices are subconsciously influenced; when guided by karma, spontaneous right action occurs even beyond rational thought.
