Tasty Bagels - 4/5
Store
Classic bagel store exterior that carries through to the inside. Home of the 'Big Wheel Bagel,' the bagel equivalent of a party sub. Nice spread and lox display, modestly executed but very appetizing visually. Vintage-style signage that trends more towards deli offerings. Backstreet Boys plays on the overhead radio. The staff is very busy though there's not many customers present. Placing an order takes longer than it appears it should, but staff is very personable.
3.75/5
Bagel
A doughy, soft bagel with a pale brown shell, served fresh but not hot. Some light crackling on bites but yielding as a rule. Standard topping density, moderate coverage on two sides. Moderate salt ratio, with great representation visually but not much taste impact. A good spot for those that like doughy bagels.
4/5
Cream Cheese
Served cool, applied evenly and generously. An exemplary use of scallion for texture purposes: eraser-sized chunks at high volume make every bite a clean, crisp experience. The spread itself is fresh and highly whipped with no undue dairy assertion.
4.25/5
The definitive bagel survey of New York City. 202 bagels reviewed across all five boroughs, with notes of distinction given to the best stores, spreads and bagels. http://everythingiseverything.nyc/
The collection is part one of "Post Clarity," a 5-part NFT series documenting "2020: Total Clarity" by creative duo Highley Varlet. During "Total Clarity," artists Mike Varley and Jessi Highet walked 260 marathons and 7,000 miles around the five boroughs of NYC over one calendar year. https://highleyvarlet.com/
