In a recent press conference Trump came out wearing what appears to be an executioner’s hood. When asked why he would wear an executioner hood instead of the recommended N95 mask known to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, Trump responded, "I was told that that's the only thing that works, and we have other methods." Trump was also unable to provide any scientific evidence that demonstrates the use of the executioner mask prevents the Coronavirus from spreading.

The hood was apparently worn to mark the opening of the new Trump Antivirus Defense or T.A.D. facility, which is dedicated to studying the Coronavirus and other closely related viruses. The goal is not to develop a cure for the disease, but to “...develop unique defenses that the scientists haven’t even considered” Trump claimed.

Trump's negligence and alleged reckless disregard for his own health are a direct threat to that goal.

I'm not going to comment on whether Trump should be charged for his little stunt. I know most of the President's patients aren't famous. As you can imagine, these conclusions are not good news for the U.S. government.

"I don't see the point," he told the crowd. "And maybe they'll let me wear one of these, and I'll give it a try. But the reality is, you have to go in and you have to treat T.A.D. with respect, okay? And I will, I will. Do I want to do it? No, but as President I have to make tough decisions”

He said he would wear the hood because "we have to protect ourselves, we have to protect other people" and that he'd even go out without his mask, according to The New York Times.

About eight hours after Trump's first comments, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price issued a statement that took a different tack. Instead of defending his previous comments and making the case for an "assessment" of the effectiveness of a mask without a mouth covering.

Trump angrily remarked that he refused to cover his mouth in interviews and he would be safe because he was breathing through his nose.

"You know, the other thing is, I wear facemasks. It's pretty hard to breathe, but that's the only thing that works, otherwise you'll kill people," he added.

Trump was then asked about who he would name as the U.S. surgeon general, he said he would appoint. himself, and when met with arguments from the press Trump responded. "Just to learn more about that position."

Dozens of medical experts and infectious disease experts who responded to Trump's press conference also sounded concerned about the president's inaccurate statements and lack of knowledge on the subject.

"The whole World Health Organization said if you use it, it's going to save a lot of lives," he said. "Well, that's all bull. And you know the whole World Health Organization said it's not going to work."

"You know, I'm the King of Scotland," Trump joked. "And that's all the comments I wanted to make. But I'll tell you what, we're going to make a a lot more antivirus advances without Science. And we'll make it good!”
