For 3 years I've thought about Ethereum through these Cryptocats. I'm a bit of a nerd, so I tend to think about them as 625 tokens and lookup transaction hashes on etherscan to see what functions are being called. I've come to realise that each cat is more than just a token to me. They represent people. The people that helped me learn about smart contracts, the cat whales, the supporters of our team and the NFT collectors who thought it was art before I knew what that meant. This year I wanted to understand what it was like to see the all the cats together. Not just as individual cats but as the idea of a collective, much more than 625 tokens.

About Cryptocats, est. 2017 The Cryptocats team (Cat0, Cat1 & Cat2) tokenised 625 unique cats on the Ethereum blockchain in 2017. Cryptocats were an experiment: generative pixel art meets crypto. Forked from the Cryptopunks code the tokens (CCAT) are vintage NFTs, made before the ERC721 standard and can currently only be purchased and sold at cryptocats.thetwentysix.io or directly via the smart contract 0x088C6Ad962812b5Aa905BA6F3c5c145f9D4C079f.
