2027 x 2875 | Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “You are what you think all day long.” Your mind is a very powerful thing, and most of us take it for granted. We believe we aren't in control of what we think because our thoughts seem to fly in and out all day long. But you are in control of your thoughts, even someone else can influence them for you without you even realizing what a powerful impact it can have over you, and you become what you think about. And that little kernel of truth is the secret power of the mind, that you are what you think. You become what you think about. You can create the life you want, simply by thinking the right thoughts. We are creatures of habit. We tend to follow the picture in our minds created by our parents, friends, movies and things we see on television, music videos etc., and the part of the world from which we come. For good or for bad. But we don't have to. We each have a mind of our own, capable of imagining life the way we want it. We can say yes or no to the million choices we each encounter every single day. Sometimes it's good to say no, of course, or we wouldn't get anything at all done. But the most successful people say yes to life overall. They are open to possibilities. "We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves." - Buddha. In a way, we as the real self, we are not our thoughts. But as we go on into our lives on a day to day basis, we forget this, and so, we start identiying ourselves with our own thoughts. We become a swing, we are angry or happy, we feel shame or envy, or we could feel love or fear. Shyness, pride, grief, puty, kindness and so on... all these are emotions. The line where thought meets the body, is called emotion. Emotion produces biochemical changes in your body, which in turn can empower more similar thoughts to arise, feeding a loop. Before you know it, you become addicted to these chemical changes, in other words, you can become addicted to feeling negative and hopeless or become addicted to being productive, and the examples can go on and on.
