Ignorance is bliss. But it is a veil, a wall between you and what is true. The truth, once you have learned it, will expose the world to you. You will suffer from the horrible truths the world has to offer, you will feel the pain they cause, and will see how the world is not so kind. But you will free and find peace. You will be able to choose what to do, and be informed as to what your actions truly cause. You will be able to act. You will no longer be hidden and naive, driven by impulses and self sabotage, but will be free to act. Thus, the truth frees you. To act and know, to experience, and to be free to do these things. In this artwork we can see one of the prisoners reading a book, symbolically he unlocks his "padlock" (mind) suggesting that he no longer feels trapped, while his uniform stripes starts to go away, symbolizing a process in regaining his true freedom.
