This is my NFT to celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Tiger. It was painted in acrylic on board first and then animated, giving her the stillness and grounding I imagined her character to have. She sees all and remains unperturbed by the changes happening all around her. She is unmoved.
Although I am I known for my architectural and geometric metaphors, for some years I have painted tigers, I paint them at times when life is challenging and I need to dig deep. Tigers remind me that it takes courage and bravery to do hard things, they also remind me to tap into my own internal power and strength.
I painted tigers before I had to go to Beijing and paint murals in 2017, and again in 2019 when I travelled the world for my work, as these trips took me well out of my comfort zone and I am being drawn to them again now as I navigate other hard things in my personal life.
I hope this work reminds you when you look at it that nothing worth doing is easy, but the harder the thing the greater the reward. This Year of the Tiger seems to be challenging many of us already. So perhaps like me you can look to the qualities of this beautiful creature and find inspiration.
Thank you for being on this creative journey with me.
Happy Chinese New Year.
Jasmine.
