Choi Eun-jeong’s work is a unrealistic and artificial landscape painting pretending that the reality is reproduced. At first glance, it looks like a urban design, unraveling the work with anonymous landscape in which trees and plants are harmonized with various structures. In this regard, the artist said 「The space I create on the screen is not a space where we’re living in, nor the landscape we stare into from a distance.」 The dynamic composition and brilliant colors that are seen in the work may look disparate but it seems to have a harmonious standard of the artist’s own. This is seen as the surrounding situations comprising of the landscape and the artist’s interest in the structure supporting the landscape, and a method of expressing it gathers attention. The artist makes viewers arouse a visual sense through lines and colors spurting constantly from inside and outside the work. The work that both the visible area and invisible area exist in the mix is the landscape with a dynamic flow comprised of dismantlement and construction of a free structure that is not constrained by the existing landscape paintings. While looking at the artist’s works that have started from a question, “Isn’t the world that we’re living in like an endless maze?”, we come to think that we would be able to find out an exit?
