Title: Intentional: Phase 1 #12
Aka: At the End, the Final Voyage (book version)
Artist: Andrew S. Gray
Edition: 1/1
This image is a style defining moment in my work. One of the examples where, what landscape was before me, changed it's story in the movement of the camera and the shapes it made then adding a personal narrative during the manipulation of the captured images.
In 2013 I all but gave up traditional representational photography. I began experimenting with a technique called intentional camera movement (ICM Photography).
Using this technique in a unique way I had found a niche of photography that I could thrive in. By combining the capture method with an image processing workflow developed over years, I was able to begin making the painterly and interpretive artwork I’d longed to do so. Mainly taking inspiration from the painted medium rather than the exactness of representational photography. In the years since, I've become known for having a distinctive and individual style with many commenting some of the work resembled JMW Turner’s.
In 2017 Kozu Books published “Intentional” as part of their Landscape Editions series. The book’s run sold out in hours and has remained unavailable since.
This collection takes the finest pieces from the book and makes them available in the digital realm for the first time.
