LOG17 I am the chosen one. Tomorrow I will depart on my quest to find the source of this phenomenal tape, the tape that is about to change my life forever if it didn’t already. Suddenly there is an immense anticipation and a newfound purpose for the whole settlement. The elders ordered for all that is able to supply me with their valuables, stuff that could be useful in my journey. My pad is now full of them. Don’t even know how to use half of it. My next door neighbor, Yavru, gave me his own hand made sturdy shades. They give a sinister look, as far as I can tell from my cloudy mirror. Avron gave me -you’ve guessed it- a flask of his own peculiar booze. It might come in handy during the long nights. Or it might just remind me of my time back home, drinking this unpalatable mess of a drink with my friends. Muyiwa gave his most valuable possession, a pre-war medicine for fever. They are lifesavers. This is perhaps the most valuable pre-war artifact, second to a SimTape, of course. Mayor gave his beloved camera and instructed me on how to use it. Apparently, I can only take around 36 shots, “choose your frame wisely” he advised. I am to document new settlements that I’ll come across, points of interest and any other valuable information such as new tools for survival that could benefit our own settlement. Muyan gave me a Lands.cape robe. I too had a similar one before I traded it just recently for the tape that started this whole deal. Another precious artifact came from the white lady, an actual working pre-war clock in a very good condition! This is a very good possession, not only for the road but for the rest of my life. I’ll do everything I can to keep it working. There are also a lot of other useful stuff such as knives, bags, a blanket, cups of which I don’t know if I can carry all. Dova was another story. I didn’t expect to get emotional from our last moments together, but I did. She always wanted to be my partner, secretly, I think. She gave me her necklace. It’s actually a talisman, she explained, passed on to her from her deceased grandmother, who was one of a previous Elder. It’s apparently an extinct flying animal. I have only seen such an animal once when I was a child. But no one believed me. Now I am to believe the lucky charms of this piece of rope. Tomorrow, I’ll depart.
