An artist is asleep at her desk, in an exaggerated slump over a digital drawing tablet after a late night of posting, spaces, and drawing.

This artwork ponders the quickly changing movements of the NFT space and alludes to Romanticism with a quote and reference to the work of Goya at a significant turning point in history. The monster characters included are derivatives of projects that allow it. The artist and props are hand-drawn and original.

Created for the Searchlight Curators collection: Party-Caked Camels: An homage to Caked Apes and the interactive shenanigans of the 2022 NFT community.

Caked Camels is a response to the phenomenon of the interaction between artists in the NFT community, their AI generated projects and collections, and their growing moves toward finding ways to connect between land in the assorted metaverses and the metaverses themselves in the dawn of 2022.

The Caked Apes, dropped in January ’22 - a project whose principles are @cakenygard and @WTFindustries - is a case in point. Spinning off from the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Apes were ‘caked’ with all manner of additions, including images borrowed from other PFP projects that the team owned. The Muttnicks created an airdrop that included PFPs from more than a dozen other projects. Frogland will be communicating with their neighbors, the Gutter Cats, in the metaverse. This is just the beginning of a transformative groundswell in the Web 3 space.

The Party-Caked Camels have gleefully joined the community melée. Each work in this Collection is a unique, hand-created, 1/1 NFT, by the individual artists who contributed to the collection: Brendan Briggs, Sondra Bernstein, Pilar Cote, Joyce Korotkin, Rebecca Rose, JenJoy Roybal, Dr. Lemny Perez, Kilsy Pix, Heartwell, and Kas Vegas.
