This painting pays dues to Nikola Tesla, an often-overlooked Serbian-American genius whose studies we’re all greatly indebted to. Of course there are many throughout history we are in debt to, but Tesla’s work and innovations on AC electric currents, hydroelectric power, motor induction, wireless technology and radio waves paved the technological developments that shape our life, and our futures.
Tesla’s innovations have been essential to the function of CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, so without him (as without Einstein) we’d also have never been able to discover or delve into the fundamental basics of the weird quantum world we inhabit. This painting, in its frenetic activity yet softer ‘pastel’ colours, aims to balance the electric mind of a demure genius.
