Jeremy Wolf (b. 1989) is an artist living and working in London originally from New York City. Although he’s always had an avid interest in drawing, he is largely untrained as a fine artist. Instead, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from New York University (2011). With little formal art education, he explores multitudes of different styles, media, and subject matter without reservation. Recent exhibitions include Lite of Worlds (online, 2020) & Art In The Age of Now (London, 2021). Awards include the Butterbiggens Painting Prize (UK, 2020) & GAMMA Young Artist of the Year Award (South Korea, 2020).
BSOD stand for "blue screen of death." This blue screen was the dreaded symbol of a fatal error in your computer in the before times (when we all had PCs). To me it symbolizes a complete breakdown that rarely, if ever, can be recovered from. That concept overlays accurately with the goings-on in the world today. The work reflects the sense of dread and tension one might have felt upon discovering the BSOD on the screen of their computer. Additionally, being all digital works, they reflect the medium in which one might have found as blue screen.
This work was exhibited in the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art's This Show is Curated by a Machine 🤖, which took place from September 23, 2021 through January 31, 2022. The show is curated by an artificial intelligence which learned to curate by looking at artworks from the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the 2021 Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art Biennial, and other sources. The show has been added to mowna's collection, which is available for viewing online at https://www.mowna.org.
The winner of this auction will receive a 1/1 limited edition NFT, minted by the museum. 70% of the sale will pay the artist of the NFT for their work, with the remaining 30% paying for the creation of the museum platform. The winner will also unlock a free one month membership code for the museum.
