A puffer fish starts off looking like a dice, as they grow, their spots multiply... when stressed they puff up into a ball in order to appear bigger. This is actually quite a stressful process for them, so as divers we try to avoid scaring them into this behaviour. I met this little chappie in the shallows of Naama Bay in Sharm El Sheikh. There was a little lagoon area in the shallows near our dive centre, and just as you enter this sheltered area, there he was a teeny tiny ball of spots... so cute.
