Dionísia Gonçalves Pinto, better known as Nísia Floresta, was born in Papari, Rio Grande do Norte, in the early 19th century, she was so important that today the city bears her name!
Nísia was an intellectual, poet and educator, the first Brazilian feminist writer. Always ahead of her time, Nísia defended the right to science education for girls, raised the banner of the feminist struggle in Brazil, founded a school for women and left us important works on the subject.
Nísia Floresta comes to represent the institution CUFA Mães da Favela, which helps women warriors who also fight for a dignified life and with more opportunities.
