This is a remixed alternative version of Dugo's ambient track "Prism". It represents Ryoanji, an ancient temple in Kyoto that has ironically regained the tranquility it should have under the COVIT-19 lockdown that has afflicted everyone in this world. (I myself have been infected with COVID twice and survived.)
The aspect ratio of the rock garden at Ryoan-ji Temple is the golden ratio, considered the most beautiful ratio. The oiled clay walls surrounding the stone garden are sloped so that the room side is higher, creating a sense of depth, which makes the stone garden of Ryoan-ji stand out like a frame in a painting.
Although a total of 15 stones are arranged, it is a curious structure where only 14 stones are always visible from any angle. This is said to express the imperfection of the garden by reducing the number of stones from 15, the number which represents perfection in the Oriental world.
Each of Prism's remix tracks uses the same theme, but takes a different sonic and structural approach to present a unique perspective on the world of the rock garden at Ryoanji. And just like the structure of it, where only 14 rocks can be seen from every angle, the tracks are designed to reach the listener's mind in an incomplete state, with something just a little bit missing. And by listening to the many different versions of the remixes, presented from different perspectives, one comes closer to perfection.
This is also a reflection of the way we live in this world, with its diverse yet unique cultures.
