Hana lives as an upperclassman high schooler who has no friends. Ever since she was a little girl, she was the victim of bullying and other kid's contempt. She tried to be like others. But it seems impossible for her to make friends. She was raised in a Buddhist nunnery, where her parents are monks. Hana tells them she wants to transfer schools. Her parents allow her to do so. She wants to escape from her current environment. Her old and new schools are very different. Her new school is filthy and chaotic. Her old school is clean, but students are very serious and quiet. Hana doesn't know what to do. She is filled with anxiety, depression and rejection. However, on the first day of school, Hana meets a boy who is covered with mischief and dirty. He calls Hana names on the first day of school. He says she smells like piss. He says "I hate you" or something like that. Then, he walks out of the classroom door. Hana follows him. He goes to school everyday covered with dirt. The playground of the school is dirty, and he wears a long coat in every class. The boy has no friends, he is lonely. No one is his friend. Hana is also lonely, but she is better. Because she tries harder, no one talks to her. Then, on the second day, the boy also comes to her. He uses that situation as an opportunity to escape. As the days pass, Hana falls in love with the filthy boy. She understands him, and loves him in return. Other students of the school also dislike Hana. As the days go by, one girl is particularly jealous and makes friends with Hana. Her name is Ryouko. She is filled with mischief, like the boy. She laughs at Hana. "Don't ever say that you are my friend, Hana-chan," Ryouko says. But the girl begins to open up and laugh. Hana keeps trying to win the affection of the boy. But the boy hates Hana.
