Every medium is a set of limitations; a gallery has a limited space for hanging work, a book has a set of pages between two covers. The internet is a space too big to define. A blockchain may not be the only way to put limits on the internet so that it can be a playground for artists, but the whole NFT community conforms an “art world” that has NFTs in the middle of it. The limits that allow the art NFT to be a language can be thought of as a set of rules. These rules can be as simple as “a piece of art that interacts with a blockchain is an art NFT”, that’s enough for an artist to think of the best way to communicate with those limitations. It’s still too early to see the possibilities of the NFT as an art form, but we can expect a lot of experimentation in this first stage.
