For whatever reason, the internet allow us to participate in a very impersonal way. We don’t need to know exactly who is the person we are interacting with, when we say something on twitter for example, we are putting it out there on the internet in abstract, not communicating with a specific person. Internet personal communication is communication in the abstract, with the possibility of completing the circle of communication but also the possibility of the message not getting to its objective. In this place in which it’s not essential to “be ourselves” to communicate with a community, PFP projects and the way they operate, in NFT twitter for example, create the illusion of knowing who I’m talking with even if I don’t know the person. In the end, the person I’m talking to is part of a PFP community and in a way that’s a credential that validates the person in the community. That is more effective in a space like this than an actual profile picture showing the person. I've seen comments on twitter about how when I see the face of a person in its PFP, it is evident that I don’t know the person. The real name of the person has that effect too and if people choose to be anonymous at least I want to know if the person is part of a community that I can recognize, and PFP’s do that job.

NFT art/photography aphorisms by Fernando Gallegos collection image

A series of aphorisms about the NFT as a form of art and the way photography works as a medium in it. In the description of each one of them there's a longer explanation text.

As a way of pushing myself to think hard about the conceptual side of what we are doing in the NFT space as artists, I decided to mint these short thoughts on different aspects of the NFT as an art form.
