"His Eyes Gave", 2021, digital painting 1920 x 2500 px, edition of 3
Gifted to MARLOLJOHNSON, JUCAMUNGA, ALPACAWHAL as part of a giveaway I did on twitter.com/travisleroy ending on April 20th, 2021. It marked the celebration of my first three years creating work on SuperRare at superrare.co/travisleroy
This work is part of my series "Color, Balance" where bodily artifacts removed from fashion photography become the base for paintings I create in Photoshop. I add subtle layers of digital paint and push pixels to blend the figure’s remnants into the background. I use color as a spatial feature, shifting away the boundary of the body to further blur lines between abstraction and figuration. An aspect of my practice engages the use of computer software that removes all traces of my hand— the process iterates the disappearance of the physical body on and off the screen.
"Giving it all to the Present" is a collection of gifts to my collectors and followers.
The title is a reference to the quote "Real generosity towards the future lies in giving it all to the present." by Albert Camus from his Notebooks 1935-42.
These works are part of my series "Color, Balance." Available pieces can be purchased at superrare.co/travisleroy
