The painting is dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of Ukraine's independence. The painting shows the essence of Ukraine, with its sorrows and joys, its past and future, with the problems it inherited after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and which still have to be solved. Failure to resolve them may lead to Ukraine's ruin. The painting is a unique summation of twenty years of the Ukrainian state. Who is the author?

The picture contains a unique signature: “РЕ.СВ.ВВ....” The fact is that several people (more than three) took part in the painting of the picture, mainly artists of the Zhytomyr region. The initials Р.E. belong to Romanov Eugen Vasilievich, who at one time studied at one of the art-industrial universities and in his student years was fond of painting. However, he received a technical education and worked in his specialty. He was an engineer and even the head of a design bureau, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, he was engaged in the restoration of icons and paintings. He rallied around himself a team of artists from Zhytomyr, whose paintings he later sold with a minimum extra charge for his work. It was he who bought and primed the stretcher of the picture we are considering.

The next signature on the picture is “С.В.” - belongs to Vladimir Petrovich Soshinsky, who graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Art and Industry in 1987, having received the qualification of an artist of decorative art. There are artists who are famous both in their own state and abroad. Some of them have ranks, titles, the corresponding number of exhibitions. And there are no less talented than the first ones, but, unfortunately, they never became famous. There are rare cases when an artist receives recognition after his death. The artist Vladimir Soshinsky is known to a certain circle of admirers of his work, among his fellow artists. It was thanks to his skill that the idea of ​​the creative team was realized.

Realizing the joint idea of ​​his colleagues, the artist signed the picture with their initials, while not even putting his initials in the first place. Vladimir Soshinsky died in 2014 at the age of 63. The above picture gives him the opportunity to receive recognition after death.

Signature “В.В.” belongs to Voznyuk Vasily Vasilyevich, now known all over the world. He began to paint as an adult, after he was injured during the fighting in Afghanistan. Today he is the only Ukrainian artist who writes for royal families in Europe. At one time, even the British Queen Elizabeth II sent him a letter of gratitude for her portrait. V. Voznyuk is a member of the Association of Cartoonists, chief artist of the All-Ukrainian Association "KVN", laureate of numerous international contests for cartoonists. He gained popularity thanks to the TV program "Freedom of speech" and "Shuster Live". During the mentioned TV programs, he drew cartoons for their participants. About twenty paintings by V. Voznyuk adorn the youth center of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

It was thanks to his proposal that the image of Savik Shuster with a microphone appeared in the picture we are considering since the programs he created were quite popular both in those days and now, and in a certain way influenced the public opinion of Ukrainians, and not only them.

In the creative team, according to the idea of ​​writing the picture, other artists were also included. Some of them by that time were already quite well-known in the state and abroad, had the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine, therefore, taking part in the concept of creating a picture, they did not want their initials to appear on the signature. That is why there are three dots after the initials of three people in the picture.
