Chronologically speaking, this is the last photograph taken for this series.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve used this location for shootings, both street and portrait works. It’s the government area in Berlin and it always feels so different than the rest of the city. ‘Chasing Shadows’, the photograph that gives the title to the collection, was shot in this area. ‘message: berlin’, my first attempt at creating a short film, was also done here. How many different angles can one find in a single location? Is it good or bad to repeat them?

In my opinion, it’s always possible to find new perspectives to explore. Basically, in everything we do. Despite being here many times before, this was the first that I saw this composition. The rounded bridge, going over the Spree (main canal of Berlin), guiding my eyes to the opposite side to find the diagonal line and the shadows created by the whole structure. The sense of scale, that I also use in many of my works. And finally, the human element that ties it all together. It felt just right.

This is it. The last shadow I chased.

At least for now.

Photographing on the streets is about creating on the go, embracing the unexpected. Moving forward, every new angle is a brand new story. It’s about adapting to change all the time, being it in the light, in the dark or in the middle of both. Just like life itself.

Chasing Shadows is a collection of 18 photographs minted on the blockchain between March and October, 2021.
