Not a Goddess, not a whore: Expecting womxn to be “divine” or Goddesses is just as damaging in its expectations as treating women poorly. Just like everyone, womxn are flawed and different in their lives and experiences.

My Womxn, My Causes collection image

I believe art comes with stories, causes and a call to action. I’m an Indian immigrant woman in California, just turned 50, and a lot of my work features strong, older, body positive, brown womxn, my womxn.

Not a Goddess, not a whore: I believe expecting womxn to be “divine” or Goddesses is just as damaging in its expectations as treating womxn poorly.

The Wave Within: the need to shut out the chaos outside to find the energy and force within.

Those Who Can: this piece is about celebrating the privilege to breathe and using it to help others, to stand up for those who can’t. I’m Indian immigrant to the US, and the current corona virus crisis has brought home to me how being able to breathe has now become a trauma point in my country of origin and current home.
