Photo art-original digital photograph; taken via iOS in Santa Barbara, California. Reimagined through the metropolens
Kryptographia is a visual art project that reimagines photographs of global locations. Each photograph is carefully reconstructed through prisms of mirroring, recoloring, and remixing. These photographs have been taken via iPhone in a variety of countries, cities, and landscapes over the course of the past decade. The Kryptographia project began in 2020, when the artist began redesigning this cache of travel photography.
Each Kryprograph is a photo artwork that explores the limitations of mobile technology. Each photo artwork is produced entirely on a mobile device, using everything from the cameras to mobile editing and illustration apps. The mobile device thus lends itself to spontaneity in each artwork, as a photo can be captured and reimagined almost instantly. Each image is meant to a kaleidoscope of itself, mirrored, recolored and reconfigured in a way that rethinks the essence of a global landscape.
