Sechaba is a Sesotho term that means community.
A community is made up of individuals who are able to express themselves, share beliefs and work towards a common goal.
Amongst the Bantu people, the philosophy of Ubuntu is a cornerstone as to how a person should conduct themselves and treat others in the community.
Ubuntu can be best understood through the expression "Motho ke motho ka batho". The expression directly translates to "a person is a person through other people", meaning that a person's humanity is dependent on the appreciation, perseverance, and affirmation of other person's humanity.
By teaching the philosophy of Ubuntu, communities are able to organise themselves, respect one another and collectively create a better reality for their members without having to dim one another's light.
