Lack of direct democracy in all but one region on Earth has led to the financial crisis the world now finds itself in. Bankers and governments use the people's money to their own ends, inflation steals the value of each person's working hour over the years, while quantitative easing further decimates each individual's buying power and taxes are used in ways the people have no control over. The people have no say in this, and the idea of choosing one political leader as being 'democratic' is simply an illusion when you have no control over who they bail out (with your money) nor what they decide to do in their 4 years of office.

The Robinhood Wallstreet debacle is one further indicator of the issues with the so-called democratic process, and the focus on the 3 countries that were once the leaders of democratic development reveals that they have been sadly failing their citizens. The technology to make direct democracy a reality is, and has been, available for some time - the internet. Combined with blockchain tech, there's is no reason for political parties to exist, nor politicians themselves. The citizens of each country have the right - and should be empowered to - make all decisions on legislature should they choose. Anything else at this stage in history can, and should be, classified as 'undemocratic'.

Pull weeds up at their roots, so as then you will not have to deal with their many problematic leaves nor corrupting seeds.
