My life for democracy

Death Punk 114 celebrates the courage and lives of over 114 Burmese, including six children, killed by their own military on 27 March 2021.

She stands with the three finger salute adopted as a protest symbol.

The Tatmadaw, the military seized power in a coup d'état under Min Aung Hlaing, the commander-in-chief on 1 February 2021 after a landslide victory to Ms Suu Kyi's NLD party.

Gen. Hlaing justified the coup saying the military was on the side of the people and will form "true and disciplined democracy" and hold "free and fair" elections once the state of emergency is over.

In protest against Myanmar’s coup d'état, the Spring Revolution began.

There have been over 796 Burmese protestors and bystanders killed including over 44 children.

The Burmese people will continue to protest the military regime and stand strong in their quest for democracy as they have done for many years.

In 2015 Myanmar held its first openly contested election in 25 years which Aung San Suu Kyi and the NLD won after she spent nearly 15 years in house detention.

Freedom, democracy - it’s all relative.
