Examining concepts of isolation and normalcy, Bed is one twelve videos in the RELAY - DELAY series which began in January 2021. The artist, Sherry Erskine with collaborator Bonnie Sue Stein used a penpal structure across 800 miles to investigate the restorative properties of walking and resting in nature during late quarantine. Contemplating human interconnectedness, they corresponded with short performative video postcards, layered digital images and minimal soundtracks. Wrapped in fabric, their body forms become a canvas for musing during a dark winter and hopeful spring. RELAY—DELAY is an ongoing project.
IGUANA Collaborative was founded in 1976 by three artists originally from Detroit, Sherry Erskine and Bonnie Stein, with John Erskine. Iguana creates hybrid [analog/digital] interdisciplinary works utilizing lens-based media, performance, installation and sound art.
The EVERY WOMAN BIENNIAL is a celebration of: uplifting women, non-binary artists, creating opportunities, encouragement, connection, community, inspiration and love. Bringing together established artists alongside hundreds of emerging artists, some showing for the first time. The Biennial launched in NYC in 2014 by founder C. Finley, originally under the name, The Whitney Houston Biennial, as a way to provide a platform and exposure for more female artists.
