Story Behind the Photos
The first photo (on the left) shows the Fok Cheong Building in the Quarry Bay district of Hong Kong, which I took on my first visit to Hong Kong back in 2017. This building has become a famous photo location over the years, because of the dystopian like view you get looking up from the inner yard of the building. The deep clouds hovering over Hong Kong reflected the warm light of the city, providing the glow you see in the photo.
I took the other two photos during my second visit to Hong Kong back in 2018. After spending two weeks in Vietnam we had a 3 day stay in Hong Kong before returning back to Germany. The day after we arrived in Hong Kong the strongest Typhoon in decades - Mangkhut - swept across the city. The photo from Braemar Hill was taken on the evening before the Typhoon and the photo of the Finance Center afterwards. Despite the strong winds, Hong Kong Island itself didn't suffer too much damage besides some broken windows in several skyscrapers and uprooted trees. But hearing the roar of the wind and seeing the rain being blown through the streets was still a memorable experience.
This collection features images of Metropolises all over the world. Contained are photos of modern cities like Hongkong, Chicago or Auckland as well as of the ancient Angkor Wat. For each Metropolis contained in this NFT collection, three photos of that city were combined into a unique triptych. The used photos are of the highest quality and packed with details. The resulting images are made available in 4k resolution.
As a bonus, the buyer gets access to unlockable content, containing the three individual photos in 4k resolution for private use.
As a travel photographer I have visited close to 30 countries over the past 10 years. During those travels I also spent a lot of time in cities. Although I generally prefer nature and landscapes to the bustle of larger cities, there's beauty to be found everywhere, even in the chaos that some cities exude. This collection is my attempt to bring some of that beauty into the NFT world.
