As one of the most influential artists of this generation, Kanye West has bridged the worlds of music, art and fashion more than any other artist.  It's impossible to put Kanye in a box and call him "just another rapper."  His influence is universal and his drive is limitless.  Months prior to releasing the Yeezus album, Kanye performed a surprise concert in Paris at Le Zénith on February 25, 2013.  Wearing just a straitjacket and a custom crystal mask from the Maison Margiela Fall 2013 Haute Couture collection that took 18 hours to make, Kanye has never been bound to his creative urges and has always gone against the grain and challenged thought fearlessly. Kanye's collaboration with Maison Margiela is representative of the endless battle between black artists and European fashion houses to acknowledge their influence within the fashion industry. This unique partnership was truly a stepping stone that opened the floodgates for fashion houses to acknowledge and work with artists of color.
