Purple Feeling- Burnout
My family and friends say I'm resilient, I get over hurdles quickly, I'm strong.
But I'm not. I'm tired. I use work as a coping mechanism. I keep myself distracted. I tell myself to buck up. It's not motivation. It's just something to do. Something to keep my mind from straying. Something that focuses me. But every now and then I find myself with a raging headache, and a voice in my head screaming, "ENOUGH!"
'Burnt-Out Jane & the Beanstalk' is a reminder to realize and acknowledge that something is wrong. A reminder to finally begin setting important boundaries around your time and energy. This is your journey. You don't have to climb so fast that you get dizzy halfway through. Rest. Relax. Be kind to yourself. And when you reach the top of that beanstalk, you'll reach there rested, still passionate and ready to climb the next one!
It's overwhelming to allow yourself to catch a feeling. Uncomfortable. It requires us to confront ourselves fully. But we do feel. We're only human. This collection is close to me. It's everything I've felt. It's everything YOU'VE felt! Anxiety, Burnout, Grief, Depression, Loneliness and more. I caught some purple feelings. And this is me being vulnerable and uncomfortable, and allowing the world to witness it. I expressed my emotions through this collection, processed complex feelings, and found relief.
