In 2018, the New York Times reported a story about how a Art Dealer in Amsterdam says he's found a "brand new" Rembrandt. The Dutch art dealer, Jan Six proclaimed that a "Portrait of a Young Gentleman" was created by the old master. The art dealer is a direct descendant of the 17th century burgher who sat for an important painting with Rembrandt, and it's been in the family heirloom for 11 generations. So this guy went on to say that he bought this piece from Christie's for 137,000 pounds. But whaddya know the next year he's coming out and saying it's the real deal rembrandt worth MILLIONS more. "I'm absolutely convinced." We love artistic stories like these, surrounded by millions of dollars. The headlines read "Rembrandt painting now worth 18million. OH MY! Look at those numbers! Of course theres no real way to prove any of this BS.
