First in the series of an experimental project, Karakuri music boxes are a stage for me to play around with lighting, mixed media and music.
Named after Japanese puzzle boxes that can only be opened through the completion of mechanical patterns or puzzles, the sliding doors and movement of the box reminded me a lot of the “trickery” used in projection mapping work to give the illusion of space being manipulated.
