mixed technique: 3D & roto-paint. This animation was created on Cinema4d for the Icosaeder rotation and TVP-animation for the coloring and painting.

I wanted to replicate the very best of my early styles as visual artist, the ones I fell in love with, when I was young. Back then these animations were mainly created on heavily tuned Amiga Computers.

my tag xtrax indicates that this animationloop is created in a way that it auto fits to most musictracks. You can play X-music traX means any track. I did a lot of research on the influence of music on what you perseive visually. I learned early, that our brains try to connect sound and movement, they try to synchronize if possible. So if you provide multiple speeds in one animation, here for example the backside movement is slow, the frontside movement is fast. If you hear slow beats your brain will autofollow the slower backside movement, if you play fullon fast beats your visual attention will switch to the foreground. Based on the findings of this research I produced a monthly visuals magazine called XTRAX between 1994 and 1997. 36x 60 minutes of visuals. I would love to digitize the betacamSP and digital betacam master tapes and repolish and release a bestof my works from this time period. To not bore you with my visuals history too much, I will also soon upload brandnew animation and audiovisual collaborations from 2020, so stay tuned.

Now being called "visual grandpa" by my artist friends, I celebrate 33 years of visual art this year and I wanted to replicate the very best of my early styles as visual artist, the ones I fell in love with when I was young. As you can see this is a long lasting love. :))
